Am Institut für Mathematische Statistik und Versicherungslehre der
Universität Bern ist zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt die Stelle
einer/eines

	Doktoranden/in

zu besetzen.

Mögliche Themen für die Promotionsarbeit werden auf dem Gebiet der
angewandten Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie, insb. stochastischen Geometrie
vorgeschlagen.  Die Arbeit wird von Prof. Ilya Molchanov geleitet.

Anforderungen: Erfolgreich abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches
Hochschulstudium in einem mathematischen Studiengang; Interesse an
einer Promotion im Bereich der Stochastik und an Mitarbeit in der
Lehre.

POST-GRADUATE OPPORTUNITY

Funding from SNF (Swiss National Fond) is available for a PhD student
to work on a project supervised by Prof. Ilya Molchanov. Although
there is a certain flexibility in the choice of topics for PhD
dissertation, possible topics will be offered from the area of applied
probability, in particularly, stochastic geometry. It is anticipated
that the prospective student has background in mathematics, in
particularly, probability theory.

There might be a possiblity to complement funding by taking up
teaching duties in the department. The starting date is 1 October 2003
or as can be arranged by mutual agreement.
