The Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute (EBPI) at the
University of Zurich is seeking a
Post-doctoral researcher, 40% for 3 years, with a potential for
additional involvement in other projects (to be filled in the first half
of 2017)
The Medical Economics Unit, Division of Chronic Disease Epidemiology,
and Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of the EBPI join
forces for the conduct of a Health Services Research project addressing
the patterns, drivers and consequences of geographic variation in the
utilisation of healthcare services for chronic diseases, on the basis of
health insurance claims data. The project is funded by the Swiss
National Science Foundation as part of NRP 74 'Smarter Health Care'.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the operative lead and
coordination of the project. He or she will be closely involved in the
supervision of two PhD students, work-up and analysis of administrative
claims data, related refinement of analytical methods, and the
publication of scientific results.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology,
economics or another academic discipline suitable for the given topic.
Excellent mastery of English and ability to read and communicate in
German are required. We require excellent skills and experience in
statistics (including linear mixed modelling) and data management, and
an interest in exploring less familiar analytical methods (e.g. Small
Area Variation Analysis). An understanding of the relevant substance
matter areas, e.g. geographic variation of healthcare utilisation and
role of clinical guidelines, or ability to familiarise with these
topics, is needed. We expect appropriate communication skills, ability
to work independently; willingness to meet timelines; responsibility and
enthusiasm.
The EBPI (www.ebpi.uzh.ch/) is active in various areas of
healthcare-related research. The institute aims to improve, implement,
and teach best practice research methods, providing evidence and context
for informed health decisions. It offer a stimulating intellectual
environment and modern working conditions, following the rules of the
University of Zürich.
