Below, you will find the announcement for a Bayesian Workshop with
distinguished plenary speakers. Since it is very close to Switzerland,
it may interest some of you.

Dear Colleagues,

In conjunction with Kerrie Mengersen’s sabbatical on the Jean-Morlet
Chair at CIRM, Marseille (France), we are organizing a Conference on
"Bayesian Statistics in the Big Data Era" from 26 to 30 November 2018.

The CIRM (see https://www.cirm-math.com ) is an international
conference center in Mathematics, Statistics (and Theoretical Computer
Science), which is based on the Luminy campus of Aix-Marseille
University. It is located  at the heart of the Parc des Calanques, a
famous nature reserve in the South of France. And it is the best place
to offer a lovely location, a stimulating meeting and a friendly,
diverse crowd.

We will listen to the following Keynotes :
    • Sudipto Banerjee (UCLA): High-Dimensional Bayesian Geostatistics
    • Peter Donnelly (University of Oxford) TBC
    • Amy Herring (Duke)
    • Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter (WU Vienna): Data Mining through Markov
chain mixtures with applications in labor economics and marketing
    • Peter Mueller (UT Austin): scalable Bayesian Nonparametric
Clustering and Classification

as well as other Speakers such as
    • Louis Aslett (Durham University)
    • Tamara Broderick (MIT) TBC
    • Noel Cressie (University of Wollongong): Bayesian Inference for
Spatio-Temporal Changes of Arctic Sea Ice
    • Marco Cuturi (ENSAE, Paris)
    • David Dunson (Duke University)
    • Logan Graham (Oxford): Causality in Bayesian modelling for modern
machine learning challenges
      • Leonhard Held (Zürich Universität)
    • Gregor Kastner (WU Vienna)
    • Ruth King (University of Edinburgh) Title TBC
    • Gary Koop (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow): Composite
Likelihood Methods for Large Bayesian VARs with Stochastic Volatility
    • Antonio Lijoi (Bocconi University)
    • Jean-Michel Marin (Montpellier)
    • Antonietta Mira (Università della Svizzera italiana)
    • Igor Prünster (Bocconi University)
    • Stéphane Robin (AgroParisTech): Shortened Bridge Sampler: Using
deterministic approximations to accelerate SMC for posterior sampling
    • Heejung Shim (University of Melbourne) TBC
    • Minh-Ngoc Tran (University of Sydney): Bayesian Computation for
Big Models Big Data
    • Darren Wilkinson (Newcastle): A compositional approach to scalable
Bayesian computation and probabilistic programming

Registration is free but compulsory. (The upper limit is 80
participants) Participants will have to cover all other expenses
including travel, lodging and meals. Prices of board and lodging at CIRM
are available on the website. You can apply for a short talk or a poster
presentation.
