POST-DOCTORAL POSITION

Funding is available for a Post-Doctoral position (Oberassistent) at
the University of Bern. The choice of topics is wide and covers
theoretical and applied probability, mathematical and applied
statistics. It is expected that the successful applicant collaborates
with one or more of the senior staff members: Profs. L. Duembgen,
J. Huesler or I. Molchanov. Interdisciplinary interactions will be
encouraged.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in probability or
mathematical statistics. The appointment will be on the salary scales
determined by the Canton of Bern. The appointment is part-time
(min. 50%) and can be extended if the candidate takes over teaching and/or
other duties in the institute. It is expected that the successful
candidate has a working knowledge of the german language.

The starting date of the appointment is January 1, 2010, or as can be
mutually agreed. It is expected that the position will be filled for
two years with a possible further extension. In case of interest it is
possible to pursue the Habilitation degree at the University of Bern.
