STOCHASTIC ORDERS, ENTROPY AND HAJEK'S CONJECTURE

Abstract : Stochastic orders appear naturally in many problems in applied probability and can be used to derive useful inequalities.  We discuss inequalities for weighted sums, entropy comparison results, monotonicity in classical limit theorems, and comparisons between successive sampling and conditional Poisson sampling in sample surveys.
